The Intel® Pentium® 4 processor

Product Description
The Intel® Pentium® 4 processor, Intel's most advanced, most powerful processor for desktop PCs and entry-level workstations, is based on Intel® NetBurst™ microarchitecture. The Pentium 4 processor is designed to deliver performance across applications and usages where end-users can truly appreciate and experience the performance. These applications include Internet audio and streaming video, image processing, video content creation, speech, 3D, CAD, games, multimedia, and multi-tasking user environments. The Pentium 4 processor delivers this world-class performance for consumer enthusiasts and business professional desktop PC users as well as for entry-level workstation users.

Identifying Your Processor

Solution:
Once the Intel(R) boxed processor is installed into a system, the fan heatsink covers the markings on the processor. The sticker on the box that the processor came in has the processor speed information, test specification, and lot number, and can be removed from the box and placed on the inside of the system chassis that the processor is installed into. This will allow quick access to the information that is covered on the top of the processor when the heatsink is installed. If the system's processor is later upgraded or replaced causing the sticker inside the chassis to have incorrect information, the sticker should be replaced, removed or obviously marked as obsolete to avoid confusion.

Optimization Tip - Cases & Power Supplies

There are four things to look for when choosing a chassis (case) and power supply for your Pentium® 4 processor-based PC.

  • Mechanical Fit
  • Thermal Performance
  • Fan Operation
  • Included Accessories

An Intel® Pentium® 4 processor-based PC should use at least a 250 watt ATX12V power supply, and a chassis that mechanically supports the processor heat sink assembly.
